Bethany’s new management system allows you, Bethany’s worshipers, to maintain your own profile, get instant access to giving records, make contributions, and engage with ministries and small groups church-wide. While Realm is primarily designed to run on your smart phone, the system can be accessed on a computer as well. Everyone with an email will be invited to connect. (Bethany is a pilot congregation for “Realm” in the ELCA. We understand that we will be assisting the greater church as we work through some of the glitches that come with a new system!) This event will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on October 19 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. to benefit the women of New Beginnings, a ministry of the Rocky Mountain Synod located inside the walls of Denver Women’s Correctional Facility. Tickets are $50 and include cocktail hour, live piano, dinner, a silent auction, and testimonials on this ministry from current and former members. The Bethany Patchers will be celebrating their 20 year anniversary on Sunday, October 21. The pews of the Sanctuary will be covered with quilts, which will be blessed during worship before they are sent to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to countries in need throughout the world. Cake and refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall after both services. The Patchers always appreciate your support through donations of sheets, fabric, or thread. The Guardian Angel Program supports minors in immigration court in our state. We will hold a training for anyone who would like to be a part of this ministry or to learn more about accompanying minor immigrants in our system on Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon in room 210. This training is open to people of Bethany and the wider community. Contact Pastor Brigette for more information or to get involved.
Learning will take place on October 21 and 28 at 9:30 a.m. in students’ classrooms. Parents and students attend together for a time of learning about living God’s laws of love. Students will present their learning on Reformation Sunday, October 28 at the 10:30 a.m. worship. Contact Gayle at [email protected] for more information.
Beginning October 21, shopping lists for the Lutheran Family Services’ “Refugee Thanksgiving Bag” project will be at the Welcome Center. We collect and provide families with items that are familiar to them such as rice, tea, beans, flour, sugar and salt along with a $25 gift card so a special meal can be enjoyed. The Thanksgiving Bags can be returned to the Welcome Center any time before November 11. If you would like to help transport filled bags to LFS, please contact Mary at [email protected]
The All Hallows’ Eve Party on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m.-noon is for all ages! Come in costume for games, trick-or-treating (indoors), treats, and fun! We need donations of wrapped, nut-free candy and fun Halloween cookies. Contact Gayle [email protected]
Rejoicing Spirits will be October 28 this month from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with our theme of “Fed,” the Feeding of the 5000. Our service project will be a mini food break down! Donations to help purchase rice and beans can go into the offering plate or can be made at the kiosk. Please mark checks, cash or your kiosk donation with “Food Break Down.” Any funds left over will go to the December 16 food breakdown. Operation One Nation will honor Veterans with dinner catered by Romano’s, a concert by Dakota Blonde band, and a fundraiser silent auction on Saturday, November 3 at Bethany. Food will be served 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $10, the auction will be available from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and the concert will take place from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. If you have items you could donate for the auction or questions about the evening, please contact Janet Mortinsen at [email protected]
Bethany and Holy Hammers will be hosting a Ring and Sing concert on Sunday, November 4 at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This program features six handbell groups and five choirs. Admission is $10 and can be paid at the door. A free will offering will be collected to support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and our 2018/2019 Holy Hammers home construction project in Sheridan.
Operation One Nation will host a food drive for the pantry for the 244th Engineer Battalion on November 4 and 11. Look for a table in the Fellowship Hall where we will be collecting items. Come for a fun afternoon with friends and family on Sunday, November 11 at 3:30p.m. We will split into teams and go out into the neighborhood and collect food items to be donated to Metro Caring.
